Taught in ASL. Explored the structure and grammar of ASL and how phonology, morphology, syntax, and other grammatical features present in ASL in a comparative conversation with English linguistics.
LANG 3000- Intro Linguistics
Covered various areas of linguistics, from structure to syntax to phonology, this course explored how linguistics are presented across languages globally. Student presentations allowed the class to understand on a deeper level content discussed in class through students’ passions for niche language features.
ASL 3000- Fingerspelling and Numbers- ASL
In progress. Taught in ASL. Focuses on drills and practicing the production and understanding of ASL fingerspelled words and numbers.
ASL 4020- Discourse in ASL
In progress. Taught in ASL. A deeper and more in depth continuation of ASL 4010. Explores how the linguistic features studied in previous courses are applied to ASL conversation. Includes body language, word choice, understanding, and more complex discourse topics.
ASL 4700- Dev Sign Lang for Deaf Children
In progress. Taught in ASL. Explores the methods of developing signing skills in deaf children as well as reading skills in deaf children. Focuses on how language access or deprivation can influence a childs understanding of language.
LANG 4490- Language Portfolio
In progress. Focuses to highlight the skills and past projects of language students.
